Alan Irving Mitchell, 83, of Pleasantview Drive, Cobleskill, New York died Tuesday, October 20, 2026, unexpectedly at his home.

Born on July 27, 1943, in Manhattan, NY, he was the son of Samuel Mitchell and Bess Burak Mitchell. He attended high school until 11th grade.

From May 1992 to September 17, 2020, Alan worked at a site-based workshop where he did various packaging and sorting jobs.

Alan resided on West Main Street from May 1992 to July 24, 2017; High Street from July 24, 2017 to February 19, 2018, N. Grand Street from February 19, 2018 to September 17, 2020; Fuera Bush from September 17, 2020 to April 19, 2024; and then Evergreen from April 19, 2024 until his passing.

He loved the New York Yankees, weekly trips to Walmart and Stewarts, collecting wallets, and enjoying chocolate and soda.

He was predeceased by his parents.

Alan is survived by Sue and Bill Schultz and the rest of his Lexington Family.

Alan was of Reformed Jewish faith.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October, 27, 2026, from 1:00-2:00pm with a funeral service following at 2:00pm at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY 12043 with Rabbi Spencer Mandell officiating. Burial will take place at Middleburgh Village Cemetery.
