Carlisle- Agnes Marie Pieringer, 84, formerly of Ravena, died Sunday, January 13, 2013 at her daughter's residence in Carlisle following a brief illness.
Born August 21, 1928 in Albany, she was the daughter of Milton and Agnes B. (Clark) Van Bergen.
Agnes had lived in Ravena for forty years until moving to her daughter's over a year ago. She worked for Montgomery Wards in Albany for twenty years, and then the Department of Environmental Conservation as a grant analyst for twenty years.
Agnes was a communicant at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Ravena, and later, St. Vincent de Paul Church in Cobleskill.
Agnes loved animals and had many dogs throughout her life. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed camping and fishing with her husband and grandchildren.
She was a wonderful artist, and blessed many of her family with her artwork that hangs in numerous rooms of their homes.
Agnes was selfless, kind, and considerate. She put her family, and especially her grandchildren, first in her life. She will forever be their Nanny.
Agnes was predeceased by her husband Edwin McGraw II, and husband, Paul Pieringer.
Survivors include her children: Cathy (Joseph P.) Keenan of Carlisle, and Edwin McGraw of Binghamton; her brother: Carl Van Bergen of Clifton Park; four grandchildren: Shannon (Frank) Russo, David (Alicia) Keenan, Carle McGraw, and Ryan McGraw; and eleven great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12PM on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 138 Washington Ave., Cobleskill. Family and friends are also invited to attend a period of visitation to be held at the church prior to the Mass on Thursday, from 11AM to 12PM. A committal service will be held at 3 PM on Thursday at Chestnut Lawn Cemetery, Coeymans, NY.
