Ada Ruth Wayman, 90, of Barnerville Road, Cobleskill, New York died Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Palatine Nursing Home.
Born on July 17, 1934, in Cobleskill, NY, she was the daughter of Charles Terpening and Lela Tator Terpening. She was a graduate of the former Cobleskill Central School, Class of 1953. Ada was a lifelong resident of Cobleskill, residing for 65 years on Barnerville Road.
She worked for many gas companies in Schoharie County, most recently working for AmeriGas in Cobleskill.
Ada was a member of Barnerville United Methodist Church, and attended Grovenors Corners Methodist Church.
She was a member of the Shunpike Campers Club. She volunteered for Schoharie County ARC and enjoyed ceramics.
On June 20, 1954, in Carlisle, NY, Ada was married to Fred Edward Wayman. He preceded her in death on March 22, 2004. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Cheryl A. Young on January 19, 2012; and her 11 siblings.
Ada is survived by her son, James A. Wayman; son-in-law, Bruce (Brenda) Young; grandchildren: Jessica Wayman, Jackie Wayman, Aimee Wayman, Kristin Young, Derek (Mindy) Young; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; godchildren, Carol Orth and Christine Orth Bender; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to her godchild, Carol, for the extra special care she's given Ada for many years. Thank you to the caregivers who assisted her at her home in Barnerville Road as well.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024 at 1:00pm at Bramanville Prospect Cemetery.
