Accursia Anaclio Cannizzo, also known as Maria Liardo, age 85, of Main Street, Cobleskill, NY, passed away on Sunday, August 4th, 2024.
She was born on Monday, September 12th, 1938 in Catania, Sicily, and was the daughter of Francisco Anaclio and Caterina Cari. She came up to Cobleskill from the lower eastside Manhattan.
Accursia was a talented cook and worked at the Pizza Shack in Cobleskill, NY for many years. She was known for her delicious meals and warm hospitality. She loved caring for plants and gardening. She was known throughout the Town of Cobleskill as Mama Maria. She was so loved by the community and customers of Pizza Shack. Her family was her life and she prayed for them daily. Her home was covered in pictures of all the people she considered precious gifts. Sweet, kind, and caring, she was always there for those in need. Heaven truly gained an angel.
She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Alfredo Liardo, and granddaughter, Christina Liardo.
Accursia is survived by her loving children, Joseph (Lona) Cannizzo, Alfredo (Stacey) Cannizzo, Frank (Evelyn) Liardo, Celeste (Victor) Pirela, Salvator (Kimberly) Liardo; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Maria Anaclio; and brother, Pasquale Anaclio. She is also survived by her special friends, Maldy Rolon, Maritza Gregory, Sarah Tompkins, Tammie Conover; sisters-in-law, Ada Liardo, Rosie Perez Olympia Liardo; beloved nephew, Elliott Liardo.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 12:00-2:00pm at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY 12043 with a funeral service following at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Cobleskill Rural Cemetery. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
