Welcome to the memorial page for

Michael Kossmann

June 1, 1959 ~ October 4, 2016 (age 57)
Middleburgh-Michael Kossmann, 57, of State Route 145, died Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Ellis Hospital, surrounded by his family.
Michael was born in Brooklyn on June 1, 1959 and attended Middleburgh Central School.
Michael learned the art of cooking at a young age from his mother, mastering many of her recipes and cherishing her guidance and example throughout his life.
He owned and operated Ozzie's Restaurant on Lark Street in Albany for 13 years before managing the Bull's Head Inn in Cobleskill.
With the love and support of his mom, he established M&J's Café in Middleburgh and together they ran the café until Jean's passing 2005. Mike's love for his customers, old-fashioned home cooking and his lovable character helped the business grow into the village cornerstone it is today.
Mike's generous spirit was reflected through his selfless nature, loving heart and devotion to the Middleburgh community. He helped many organizations and causes through the years, never refusing to contribute his time, talents or support.
Mike was also the backbone and support of his family and friends. He worked tirelessly and gave of himself whenever there was a need. He rarely took time for himself, instead finding great joy in knowing he had done what he could for others. When he did relax, it was a trip to the casino or a quiet walk along the beach at dawn.
Besides his mom, Jean Kossmann, Michael was predeceased by companion: Rudy Buzon and brothers: Thomas, John and Dominick Kossmann.
Michael is survived by his sisters: Frances Kossmann Miller of Schoharie, Tina Kossmann of Knoxville, TN; brothers: Lawrence (Ernest) Nelson of Breakabeen, Anthony (Barbara) Kossmann of Altamont, Kenneth (Lisa) Kossmann of San Diego, CA; daughter: Dana Buzon of Schoharie; granddaughter: Sierra Devlin of Schoharie; aunt: Angelina Fumai of Schenectady; nieces: Tina Kossmann, Chelsea Kossmann, Jennifer Futch, Jessica Hyler; nephews: Michael S. Kossmann, Wayne Lawyer, Benjamin Lawyer, Daniel Lawyer, Nickolas Kossmann, Stephen Cunningham, Dominick Kossmann, Ryan Kossmann, Thomas Kossmann; many great-nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, October 7, 2016 at the Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh with Rev. Carol Coltrain of the Huntersland United Methodist Church officiating. Inurnment will be private.
