Born August 19, 1917 in Manhattan, she was the daughter of Pio and Catherine (Sardone) Scaringi.

In 1963 when the family moved to Carlisle, she became a nutrition aid for Cornell Cooperative Extension in Cobleskill.

She was the oldest member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church and Daughter of the King. She belonged to the Silver Foxes and the Cobleskill Senior Citizens and was a volunteer for the hospital auxiliary.

Marie enjoyed traveling and camping with her husband and took an annual road trip with her daughter, visiting 48 states, all their capitals, and national parks. In her later years, she took an interest in watercolor painting. Marie loved animals and had many pets over the years, including dogs and her beloved cats.

Her husband, Glenn, predeceased her on February 13, 1998 and two brothers: Pasquale and Frank Scaringi.

Survivors include her two children: Kathryn (Don) Nelli of Feura Bush and Charles (Bernice) Kistner of Carlisle; two grandchildren: Kathleen (Joseph) Spaulding of Cobleskill and their daughter, Cheyenne Spaulding, and Matthew (Heather) Kistner of Richmondville; her brother, Joseph Scaringi of Yonkers; her nephews and their families: Roy Johnson and Peter Scaringi; four nieces: Ann Johnson and her family, Madeline Scaringi, Marie Scaringi, and Vicky Longo and her family; and many cousins.
