Robert France, 87, of Cobleskill, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown surrounded by loved ones.
Born June 30, 1932 in Cobleskill, he was the son of the late Milo and Elizabeth (Curtis) France Sr.
After retiring from the Department of Transportation, Robert worked as a hostler at Blaire’s Horse Farm in Summit, NY. In his younger years, Robert yodeled/sang and played guitar in his band. He also enjoyed the outdoors: hunting, fishing, camping, and Sunday drives. Most of all, Robert enjoyed spending time with his family.
Robert is survived by his wife, Sylvia France, whom he married March 29, 1959; four children: Paula (Arturo) Sanchez, Paul (Erin) France, Paulette (Rich) Etherton, and Pauline France (Jamie Vazquez) all of Cobleskill; twelve grandchildren: Beckie (Jeremy) Jenks of Michigan, Kristal (Allen) Davis of Sprakers, NY, Roseanna Belfance (Nicholas Foland) of Central Bridge, NY, Tiffany (Brandon) Sperbeck of Richmondville, NY, Keisha Whittaker (Scott Greener), Michael Belfance, Michael Payne, Jonathon Payne, Lorena Vazquez, and Lyndsay (Justin) McDermott, Joshua and Tyler France all of Cobleskill; and thirteen great-grandchildren: Travis Walker of Michigan, Dylen Smith and Logen Davis of Sprakers, NY, Makayla Foland and Blake Foland of Central Bridge, NY, Brayden Sperbeck of Richmondville, NY, Tiara-Marie Whittaker and Mark Greener of Cobleskill, NY, Colton Belfance of Stamford, NY, Jesse Davenport of Richmondville, NY, Riley France, Logan and Kennedy McDermott of Cobleskill, NY.
A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor for close family and friends.
