Betty B. (Blenis) McCabe

Sloansville- Betty B. McCabe, 89, formerly of Sloansville, died Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Glendale Nursing Home in Glenville.

Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Inez (Teeple) Blenis.

Betty was raised in Sloansville and following high school graduation, she worked at General Electric until she and her husband started their family.  At that time in her life, she became a stay at home mother until the children were older.  Betty went on to become a twenty-year employee for the United States Postal Service, working first at Quaker Street and then retiring from Altamont.

She was a former member of the Cobleskill Hospital Auxiliary and a long-time active member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Central Bridge.

Betty was predeceased by her husband, John “Bud” McCabe, Jr., who died September 18, 2016, her granddaughter, Kerri Gilboe, and a brother, Bob Blenis.

Survivors include her three children:  Nola (John) Tauriello of Rensselaer, Algene (Joe) Borden of Navarre Beach, FL, and John F. (Mary) McCabe III of Winooski, VT; two grandsons:  Daniel Francis Lynch and John F. McCabe IV; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at a later date in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
