A. Thomas Falzarano

April 12, 1924 ~ March 8, 2018 (age 93)

Cobleskill - A.Thomas Falzarano, 93, of Cobleskill, NY, passed away peacefully at home, on March 8, 2018, after a 3-year battle with multiple myeloma.

Tom was born in Richmondville, NY on April 12, 1924.  He was the son of the late Thomas Falzarano and Julia (Santoro) Falzarano.

He graduated from the former Richmondville High School and Albany Stenotype School.

Tom worked as a Stenotype Clerk for New York Central Railroad in Albany, followed by over 20 years as a Stenotype Clerk and Lab Technician for North American and Marquette Cement Plant in Howes Cave, NY.  He then worked for a period of time at SUNY Cobleskill and retired from the Cobleskill Central School District in 1989, as a school bus driver. 

In his earlier years, Tom enjoyed riding his motorcycles, including his first motorcycle which was a Harley Davidson.  Tom continued to ride until he was well into his 70’s.  Tom also enjoyed the annual family summer vacations in Hampton Beach, NH and Ogunquit, Maine. 

He was a lifelong communicant of St. Vincent de Paul’s Catholic Church in Cobleskill.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Lorenzo and Louie Falzarano, and sister, Julia Middlekauf.

Tom is survived by his wife of 65 years, Florence (Blythe) Falzarano, daughter Lisa (Ron) Filmer of Cobleskill, grandson, Steven Filmer of Atlanta, GA and granddaughter, Nicole L. Filmer of Albany, NY.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family would also like to extend a sincere thank you to Tom’s two caregivers, Linda Crewell and Sue Bortell, for their compassion and wonderful care of Tom during his illness.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 24th, at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, in Cobleskill, NY, with calling hours 1 hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at Cobleskill Rural Cemetery in the spring.
